Whether Assad has been stroken or Al-qaeda, that doesn’t change the fact that the only people who suffer and die silently are the Syrian people.

For me as a single person who lives in the Middle East:

I don’t think that America loves us, if it does, then, where is it two years ago??

Or to die from an ordinary weapon is a good thing, but to die because a chemical weapon is a bad thing!!

I’m afraid that America goes wrong, and strike the Syrians instead of Assad or Al-qaeda.

So, many people here think that the strike will accelerate the numbers of people who will die here, and they fear the “chaos” that will follow.

Most of the people here in the city of Damascus know very well, that the American strike will bring no fortune for them, because they know throughout history that America doesn’t like the Muslims and the Arabs, and it does what is in its interest. And the sad situation in Iraq is a good example. :(

I hope that good news come one day. All the people here are living on hope. I hear many tragic stories every day, but the good point is that people still have hope of a better world.

Finally: please don’t get me wrong, the Syrian people doesn’t like the American policies, but they have nothing against the American people.

There also are many non-Syrians who think that the Syrian people should be left alone. The newspaper "Welt" says that most Germans are against an intervention. This isn't due to moral reasons only, but they also fear that this military mission would increase the price we have to pay for oil and thus this could weaken the whole economy not only of Germany and the USA, but also of the rest of the world. (the newspaper "Spiegel") In addition the number of Syrians seeking asylum in Germany could increase afterwards and we already adopted so many refugees that we are starting to lack the space for further refugees. (the newspaper "Focus") Also it is unpredictable how this could affect countries that aren't too far away from Syria. The "Jüdische Zeitung" for example says that in Israel many citizens are preparing for the worst by buying gas-masks for example. In Germany many people admire Turkey for the friendly hotel staff, nice beaches and the usually warm and sunny weather, but as statistics from different travel agencies prove many people start fearing that something could happen now that Obama plans to attack Syria. Thus his plans also harm the industrial sector of tourism in some countries.

By the way: I don't remember how the little chat we had back then lead to this subject, but some weeks ago my friends Steffen (a Catholic), Rukiye (a Muslim) and I had a little discussion concerning the subject Syria. They also agreed that Syria should be left alone, because when the USA invaded Iraq that didn't really help the people there and Afghanistan didn't prosper either after getting invaded and controlled by Western forces.
