Gaza suffers under Israeli blockade  The one-and-a-half million Palestinians in Gaza are struggling to cope amid power cuts as Israel continues its fuel blockade of the territory.The shutdown of Gaza's only power plant has prompted fears of a humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.Moaiya Hassanain, a health ministry official, said: "We have the choice to either cut electricity on babies in the maternity ward or heart surgery patients or stop operating rooms."  Gaza City awoke on Monday to find bread shops and petrol stations closed.Blockade 'a catastrophe'   Bakers said they stopped production as they had neither power nor flour. Fresh loaves of pita bread are a main part of residents' diets.Gazans said on Monday that they were eating less meat and dairy products since they had no power for refrigerators. The price of meat has doubled in 10 days.Gaza City was plunged into darkness after the plant was shut down on Sunday, three days after the Israeli fuel blockade began."At least 800,000 people are now in darkness," Derar Abu Sissi, general director of the plant, said on Monday.
"The catastrophe will affect hospitals, medical clinics, water wells, houses, factories - all aspects of life."'Patients at risk'head of the crisis management unit at the health ministry in Gaza, said that electricity from generators would only be available for a few more hours at the Al-Nasser children's hospital.
"These patients and these children are facing their destiny and they will die soon," he told Al Jazeera.

I have no idea what triggered the conflict between the countries. Whatever it is, innocent people particularly the vulnerable ones, children, oldies, and the sicks have to be protected from the catastrophe. It's so inhumane to block the transmission of electricity which would cause disastrous results.

Common people are always the ones suffering…

Why can't they preside the region in turn?(The United Kindom of Pakistain and Israel.)

Or why not the disputed region to be under the control of UN…?(hahah let the headquarter of UN move there.)The region is allowed to serve nothing but religion(s)

I’ve also read reports that Hamas is blocking some fuel supplies to hospitals and clinics in Gaza. It sounds like they are making the crisis even worse and doing so just to increase their own influence.
Neither side is innocent in this.
Hamas disrupts fuel supplies to Gaza

Hamas militiamen in the Gaza Strip on Sunday attacked fuel trucks headed toward the Nahal Oz border crossing, forcing them to turn back, sources in the Palestinian Petroleum Authority said.
The fuel was supposed to go to the UN Relief and Works Agency [UNRWA] and hospitals in the Gaza Strip, the sources said.
“Dozens of Hamas militiamen hurled stones and opened fire at the trucks,” the sources added. “The trucks were on their way to receive fuel supplied by Israel. The drivers were forced to turn back. Some of them had their windshields smashed.”
The Palestinian Petroleum Authority reached an agreement with Israel over the weekend to receive 250,000 liters of fuel after UNRWA complained that it did not have enough fuel to distribute food aid to more than 500,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Authority Health Ministry also accused Hamas of blocking fuel supplies to hospitals and clinics in the Gaza Strip. The ministry said Hamas gunmen opened fire at a number of trucks that were trying to transfer fuel to the hospitals and clinics.
Eyewitnesses in Gaza City said that at least on four occasions over the past few weeks, Hamas militiamen confiscated trucks loaded with fuel shortly as they were on their way from Nahal Oz to the city.
They added that the fuel supplies were taken to Hamas-controlled security installations throughout the city.
“Hamas is taking the fuel for the vehicles of is leaders and security forces,” the eyewitnesses said. “Because of Hamas’s actions, some hospitals have been forced to stop the work of ambulances and generators.”
PA officials in Ramallah said Hamas’s measures were aimed at creating a crisis in the Gaza Strip with the hope that the international community would intervene and force Israel to reopen the border crossings.
“As far as we know, there is enough fuel reaching the Gaza Strip,” the officials said. “But Hamas’s measures are aimed at creating a crisis. Hamas is either stealing or blocking most of the fuel supplies.”
They pointed out that last week Hamas dispatched hundreds of its supporters to Nahal Oz to block the fuel supplies from Israel. Hamas claimed that the protest was organized by farmers and fishermen demanding an end to the blockade on the Gaza Strip.
The officials also noted that the shortage in fuel supplies has created a high-priced black market for individuals and institutions.
UNRWA workers admitted over the weekend that Hamas had prevented some fuel trucks from entering the Gaza Strip.
Hamas has also been exerting pressure on the Gaza Petrol Station Owners Association to close down their businesses so as to aggravate the crisis. Some of the station owners and workers said they were afraid to return to work after receiving death threats from Hamas militiamen and ordinary residents desperate to purchase gas and diesel for their vehicles.

Yes, I sympathize with the innocent victims in Gaza.
They are suffering at the hands of everyone involved in this conflict.

Thanx for your Sympathy..gkisseberth….but your news must be documented please. And Hamas is a defender in Gaza, and it's the only hope for the Palestinians in Gaza. So when one of them die with the occupation's arms, Palestinians cover him with Hamas flag.

Is Che Guevara a national hero and those Palestinian defenders are not???

Not everyone thinks of Che Guevara as a hero, and not everyone thinks of Hamas as heroes.
Hamas uses terror tactics including the targeting of children, and deliberately endangers the people they claim to be defending. I don’t consider that heroic.
