John:  That Sayaka girl was pretty cool.

Zach:  Yeah, she was. We had a good time.

John:  What’d you guys do?

Zach:  Well, I took her around. We went to Multnomah Falls, and we drove around the city, checked out a couple restaurants and stuff. But, uh, her biggest thing was Starbucks.

John:  Oh yeah? They have Starbucks over there don’t they?

Zach:  Oh yeah. They have tons of ‘em and she was totally excited to go.

John:  Her English was pretty good too. That must have been cool.

Zach:  Yeah it was. We talked a lot. And actually it was cool because I got to brush up on my Japanese a little bit too.

John:  So what would you say? How much Japanese and how much English?

Zach:  About 60/40.

John:  Oh cool. I’m jealous. I should have hung out with you guys a little bit more.

Zach:  Yeah, it was good practice.

John:  So, is she coming back anytime soon?

Zach:  Well, she wants to come study at an American University. So, we’ll see.

John:  Well, tell her she can come by and visit anytime again.

Discussion

In the conversation you just hear, John and I are discussing my friend Sayaka’s visit. John asks where we went and how we communicated. Since her English was very good it was no problem. Both John and I think about how nice it would be to be able to practice our Japanese all the time.
Do you have any friends from other countries? Have they ever come to visit you?
Have a great week!
- Zach
