What do you do when you get some bad news, or learn about a piece of information that’s disappointing? What about when something bothers you? Do you get angry? Do you mope? Do you go out and try to fix the situation? Or do you just shrug it off and not let it bother you?

Many people wish they could just shrug things off all the time, but it’s easier said than done. You can act as if everything is okay, but you might still feel bad. You might tell everyone you’re fine, even if you are hurting inside. To genuinely shrug something off, you must be a really relaxed person, or at least a person who doesn’t take things too seriously.

Greta has a handsome co-star in her new movie. Find out whether Jeff can shrug it off in this English lesson.

Mason:  So, Jeff. How does it feel to be dating a big movie star?

Jeff:  Why is everybody talking about it? I don’t know if we would call it dating.

Mason:  All right. What would you call it?

Jeff:  I don’t know. Why even put a label on it?

Mason:  I guess I see what you mean. But are you guys, you know, exclusive?

Jeff:  No, not really. I guess not.

Mason:  Doesn’t it make you a little jealous that she has to make out with all those other guys in the movies and stuff?

Jeff:  Me? Jealous? No, I just ignore it. Shrug it off. You know? Besides, I know I’m just as good-looking as, what’s his name? Dustin Holt?

Mason:  Dustin Holt! Oh my god. That guy is ridiculously handsome.

Jeff:  Yeah, whatever.

Mason:  Maybe you should start acting. Then you could be the leading man in all of her movies, right? Have you ever acted before?

Jeff:  Actually, I have. When I was five years old, I was in a commercial for my dad’s car dealership. My mom said I was really good.

Mason:  You should totally do it!

Jeff:  I think I will, man. Hey, Greta.

Greta:  Hey, Jeff.

Jeff:  I have an idea. What about casting me as the lead in your movie instead of that Dustin Holt guy?

Greta:  You?

Jeff:  Yeah. And not because I’m jealous or anything at all.

Greta:  It’s not because you’re jealous?

Jeff:  No, no, no, no. I just remembered how much I love acting.

Greta:  I’m remembering when you showed me that commercial that you were in when you were a kid.

Jeff:  Yeah!

Greta:  You were not even convincing playing yourself.

Jeff:  I was.

Greta:  Jeff, you are a terrible actor.

Jeff:  I am.

Mason:  It’s all right, man. Shrug it off.

Mason is trying to find out whether Jeff has any jealousy issues in his new relationship. Since Greta is in the movies, she frequently has to kiss and pretend she’s dating other guys. Jeff insists that he’s not jealous, and that he can just shrug it off.

Mason wonders, though, if Jeff should try to get into the movies himself. That way, he could be the leading man, and he wouldn’t have anything to be jealous about. Unfortunately, though Jeff thinks he’s a good actor, Greta doesn’t think so. She saw a video he made when he was younger, and she thought it was terrible.

Do you think Jeff should be jealous when Greta acts in movies with other men? Are you good at shrugging it off when something bothers you?

I find it hard to shrug it off when something bothers me. Instead I keep worrying about it. No, it isn´t a good thing to do so I´ve been working on letting go of things that tick me off. As for Jeff and Gretta I think Jeff just has to shrug it off when he sees her making out with someone else in a film. He´s always known that is Gretta´s job and what she´s likely to do as long as she´s acting.

When something bothers me, it is quite difficult for me to shrug it off. Instead, I may worry about it all the time. I guess I should learn how to shrug it off.

If Jeff is really care about Greta, he may have a contradictory feeling. On one hand, he wants the best for Greta, on the other hand, he takes a chance of seeing Greta having an affair with one of leading men in the movies.Well, people may say that Jeff should be confident enough not to worry about Greta’s betrayal. Well, thing doesn’t always work that fair way. Some people just take advantage of their love one, thinking he or she will eventually forgive them because of the bounding love. Well , when we really find out that our partner had an affair with other people, can we really shrug it off? Well , most people will chose to leave but not without any pain, I guess. So what should Jeff think about Greta’s acting beheavior in the movie? I said it’s depend on what kind of people Jeff and Greta is and the bounding strength of their relationship is .Is it strong , so so or weak? Different personality and conditon of relatinship decide what Jeff should act on the matter, I think.

Jeff tries to find some decisiveness inside himself for any action, which shall make them, Jeff and Greta, exclusive. But he didn’t take it seriously and he could not convince even himself, that he did some really good things in five years old. It’s bothers and amuses to Mason.

I think, when something bothers me, the way out is find out the source of it inside myself. May be I didn’t sleep enough) So I can nip it in the bud

Of course that he should be jealous. Scenes with kisses and hugs I think is too much for me. I think I’m good at shrugging  things off, although I fell very bad inside.

He must be jelousy about Greta being kiss with other guys. For me, I am not good at shrug things off because I am so responsible. I can’t let things off easily when it still have some steps to move. However, if troubles could affect my family, I have no doubt to shrug it off. Ha

it’s hard to shrug the things off when you don’t care much or at all. But when you care, even a slighest bit, you can’t just ignore all that. If he really shrugged it off, he wouldn’t even consider taking part in the movie.

Well,it is something downright natural to be jealous, specifically in this regard, that is,
mutual relationships between men and women. In other words,
being jealous is one of the attributes of human beings,so I believe Jeff should be jealous. As long as a problem shows up,either it concerns me or my business,it bothers me and I am to deal with it,due to the fact that if it would be shrugged off and something isn’t done about it ,it makes progress and get worse, otherwise I try to ignore it and not get involved‏.‏

if i am in the situation as Jeff was i will also be jealous i can’t just shrug it off. if my boyfriend kiss other girl even in the movie i will also feel bad about that. hehe we are narrow-minded when we are in love.

easy said than done is very correct. we always said we should do these kind of things but there also always are reasons for us not doing those things.

I love the lesson. It describes me hahah! Some of my boy friends consider me as one of the boys because i could shrug things off easily unlike other lassies they know. Additionally, repression is my best defense mechanism. Hahahah!

I think Jeff would be jealous when Greta makes out in movies with other men.I am not that good at shrugging it off when something bothers me.

I think you will be still bothered when you try to srug something off, because you are focusing on it.eaiser said than done ,describes the situation exactly.the best way to face desire is to give in.
