Do you know what to expect when you become a parent? First, you have a cute and tiny baby who sleeps at strange times. Then, you have a talking and curious baby who wants to crawl everywhere in the house. Next, it’s time for the Terrible Twos. Peace and quiet? You’ll only find that in someone else’s home. Or better, when you call grandma to come babysit!

The terrible twos happen when a child is about two years old. At this point, your child usually wants to explore the world. Children love to scream, “No!” to their parents at this age. This can drive a parent crazy! Sometimes, a two-year-old child will start throwing tantrums if you don’t give them permission to do something. But with a little luck, you might get your child to take a nap each day so you can have time to relax.

Romeo needs someone to watch his daughter, but Dominique doesn’t want to babysit. Listen to today’s English lesson to find out if she’ll take the job.

Romeo:  So, I was wondering, are you still available this summer?

Dominique:  For what?

Romeo:  To babysit my daughter.

Dominique:  Now that your daughter is two, I’m going to need double what you usually pay me.

Romeo:  Wow. I already pay you 20 bucks an hour.

Dominique:  Two words: terrible twos.

Romeo:  And?

Dominique:  They scream. They drive me crazy. I can’t do it.

Romeo:  Oh, that’s why you only babysit when they’re after 3. I get it now.

Dominique:  More like 4 1/2, 5.

Romeo:  So, what am I supposed to expect? Are they going to be throwing tantrums?

Dominique:  All the time. Peace and quiet, you can kiss that goodbye.

Romeo:  Put her on timeout.

Dominique:  Timeout? All she’ll do is scream, which equals no peace and quiet.

Romeo:  Ok, I give you permission to give her a spanking.

Dominique:  I don’t spank other people’s children.

Romeo:  That’s what I’m paying you $20 an hour for.

Dominique:  $40 an hour.

Romeo:  $40, all right. Well, I think you might have a deal.

Dominique:  Ok, and I’ll just put her to nap.

Romeo:  Awesome. You’re hired.

Dominique:  Great.

Romeo needs help. He needs someone to babysit his daughter. He thinks maybe Dominique could do this, since she babysat for him in the past. But Dominique isn’t sure if she wants to do it. Dominique tells Romeo that she doesn’t like the terrible twos. She likes to care for younger children and for older children, but not a two-year-old child. It’ll cost Romeo a lot more money to hire her.

Romeo isn’t sure what to expect now that his daughter is two. Dominique has answers for him. Peace and quiet? Ha, that’s a thing of the past. His daughter will start throwing tantrums. She’ll scream, even if Romeo puts her in timeout. After hearing this, Romeo has an idea. What if he gives Dominique permission to give his daughter a spanking? Will she babysit then? Dominique says she’ll babysit if she gets extra money and if his daughter will nap while Dominique is there.

What do you do when a child starts throwing tantrums? Did your parents put you in timeout?

Some my friends who have turned to be parents would complain with me abt their terrible twos kids. The kids in this age like screamming in the public, fighting with other kids and etc.

I just do nothing if the kid starts throwing tantrums. I would stare at he and show my serious face to he to make he feel fear. haha.

Of course, when I was a kid, I was put in timeout by my parents. On my opinoin, it is a quite good method to let the kid to be understanding what is right and wrong.

I  still do not have my own children so I really do not know how I will react when my child starts throwing tantrums. Regarding the second questions, I do not remember did my parents  put me in timeout, but I remember that I got spanking many times :D

Guys first of all we should know this :
🔵We aren’t responsible for getting our children under control !
we should know also this :
🔴 It’s our job to teach our children …we should remind ourselves that we are the teachers ( our children can’t handle these strong emotions yet and it’s our job to help them learn how to do that
