Do you sometimes feel nervous and uneasy? It might make you nervous when a stranger approaches you in the street, so you just keep going. Maybe, you have been lost in a maze and couldn’t find the exit. You probably felt very uncomfortable. Or maybe, you just weren’t sure if you could trust your friend with a serious secret. You just didn’t feel safe letting your guard down.
When we let our guard down, this means that we relax. We feel comfortable and trusting of a person or situation. When you are hanging out with friends that you have known for years, you probably let your guard down. You probably let your guard down when you are at home soaking in a warm bath tub. We don’t need to keep our guard up when we are eating fresh baked cookies with our Grandma.
Kelsey and Andy are watching a scary scene from the movie they made. Watch as they decide whether or not to let their guard down.

Kelsey: I think we’re safe now.
Andy_H: I don’t know… I still feel uneasy.
Kelsey: There’s no reason to feel uneasy. Wait! Did you hear that?
Andy_H: See! I told you! What was it?
Kelsey: Maybe, it was nothing. Wait!
Andy_H: What?!
Kelsey: BOO!
Andy_H: Don’t do that!
Kelsey: Sorry!
Andy_H: This is serious! I think we’re lost! Wait… what was that?
Kelsey: That’s not going to work. It’s totally fine. I think the exit is right there.
Andy_H: Wait! We can’t let our guard down.
Kelsey: Come on! We’re fine! Wait… did you hear that?
Andy_H: Wait. Is that the right line? I can’t remember if it’s “keep our guard up” or “don’t let our guard down.”
Nestor: CUT! You had it right. But it’s fine if you say either, just keep going. Let’s go again.
Andy_H: OK. OK.
Nestor: Sorry, I meant to show you a different scene. Here we go.

Andy and Kelsey are sneaking through a hallway. Kelsey thinks they are safe, but Andy feels uneasy. Kelsey hears a strange noise. Maybe, it’s a door creaking open? Andy tells Kelsey that he told her something was strange.
Kelsey yells, “Boo!” and scares Andy. He freaks out and tells Kelsey not to do that. He thinks they are lost. Kelsey sees the exit and wants to leave, but Andy doesn’t think they should let their guard down. Then, Andy forgets his line. Nestor realizes he showed them the wrong scene.
Are you naturally a nervous person? Is it hard for you to let your guard down?
