At age 27, Ryan Adams has already been part of one successful band, and gone on to record two amazing albums on his own. Adams formed his first band, Whiskeytown, in 1994. Although Whiskeytown was popular, they broke up because the bandmembers couldn’t get along.
After breaking up with a girlfriend in 2000, Ryan recorded his first solo album, Heartbreaker. The album showed the young singer’s ability to express emotion and passion in his songs.
Adams plays a unique mix of country music and rock&roll, which he performs perfectly in his latest album, Gold. Read on to learn more.

Gold is Adams’ most ambitious collection of songs to date. The album is filled with a variety of different kinds of songs. They range from the emotional and melancholy ballad “When the Stars Go Blue” to the rocking opener “New York, New York.”
Some of the lyrics from “New York, New York:”
Lived in an apartment out on avenue A
I had a tar hut on the corner of 10th
Had myself a lover who was finer than gold
But I’ve been broken up and busted up since
And love don’t play any games with me, anymore
Like she did before
The world won’t wait, so I better shake
That thing right out there through the door
Hell, I still love you, New York
Ryan is from the Southern part of the U.S., but he lived in New York for a few years. He really likes the big city, but he also loves living in the South.

Discussion

I bought Gold several months ago and I still listen to it a lot. I really like the album because it contains 16 songs, and every one of them is good. I listen to different songs depending on the mood I’m in. When I’m sad, I like to listen to “La Cienega Just Smiled” or “When The Stars Go Blue.” When I’m happy about something, or getting ready to go out and have fun, I like to listen to “Firecracker” or “New York, New York.” The best thing about Ryan Adams is that his music suits any occasion.
